In May 2009, Racing Pakistan organized a 2 day basic training school on karting. Haroon Malik was amongst the twelve participants who graduated from the first training school ever held on karting in the history of Lahore.

In October 2009, round 2 of Bank Alfalah Super Challenge Karting Championship 2009 was held in Lake View City, Lahore. This was a five hour endurance race in which eleven teams from around the country participated. Haroon participated as a member driver of Team Zong Velocity, sponsored by ZONG a well renowned cellular carrier in the country. This race introduced, both ZONG and Haroon into this championship series. Haroon was one of the two fastest drivers in his team which comprised of four drivers.

Round 3 of Bank Alfalah Super Challenge Karting Championship 2009 was held on 28th February 2010 in Bahria Town, Lahore. Originally this was announced as a seven hour endurance race, but due to certain circumstances the organizers reduced the time duration to five hours. Eleven teams participated in this event. Haroon again participated in this event with Team Zong Velocity.
